International Peace Day

On Saturday the 23rd of September seven pupils from our school took part in UNESCO’s celebration for International Peace Day. The 21st of September is the day devoted by the United Nations General Assembly to International Peace with the aim of promoting and strengthening the ideas of peace and non-violence among all nations. The day started in the theatre of Epidavros, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with participants engaging in a dialogue on world peace and reflecting on questions such as What is world peace? How can we achieve it? What stands in the way of peace today? and included a visit to the Archaeological Museum of Epidavros. The celebrations continued in Nafplio, the first capital of Greece as a free nation and a really pretty town that has a lot to offer to any visitor. Overall, it was a rewarding experience enjoyed by everyone on a glorious autumn day!

Being Me in My World

On Friday, 22nd September, 2017, a Junior school PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) assembly started the year for all pupils with energy and enthusiasm.  Our Headmistress, Ms Good, calmed and then enthused the pupils about the topic, “Being Me in My World”. There was discussion with five-year olds and ten-year olds alike contributing their thoughts and ideas about how our school community could be a better place by helping others feel welcome in these first few weeks especially.

“Saying one kind thing may be the most important thing you do today,” proposed Ms Good. This was the message taken on board by the whole school. To make the afternoon complete, an electrifying rendition of the Singup song “One and a Million” was sung by everyone in the hall.

“One and a million, join us today, building tomorrow, leading the way… United we are strong.”
